About Chakras
The word Chakra is Sanskrit for wheel or disk.
At the inner core of each one of us spin 7 wheel-like energy centres called chakras that extend from the base of your spine to the top of your head. These chakras receive, assimilate and express our vital life energy.
By focusing on these energy centres, and understanding the function of each, we are able to balance our energies, augment areas in our lives, and facilitate healing.
Chakra Tuning or Healing
The practice of chakra tuning helps heal the body and enliven the particular energy centres.
It is useful to focus on a single chakra related to a physical or emotional difficulty we may be experiencing.
Each chakra has a specific seed sound or mantra that we can repeat to release any energy that may be congested in that region. For example, if we feel powerless about some issue in our life, we can focus on the third chakra and repeat the sound RAM.
In addition, each chakra is associated with a specific pitch and colour, and my chakra bowls are hand-crafted to ring at that specific pitch and are decorated in the appropriate colour.
We can open up blocked energy by focusing our attention on the colour of a chakra and repeating its associated seed sound whilst gently striking the chakra bowl to generate the correct vibrations.
By repeating the seed sounds along with the gentle ring of the chakra bowl, you will quickly pacify the mind begin the healing.
It is not complicated and never incorrect. Just trust your voice.
Using my Chakra Bowls
Strike lightly with the mallet. This produces a benign sound which generates positive energy.
Enjoy the process of making the sound and let your your energy be invigorated.
Feel the healing as your mind connects with the sound.
You can start by freestyling and after a while you will find a pattern you like. Stay with it.
The repetition is very good as its soothing effect calms the chaotic mind.
Notes
I would advise closing your eyes as this is the dominant sense and, by closing them you will enhance the receptive power of your ears. Visualise the particular chakra colour in your mind's eye instead of your physical eyes.
Avoid striking the bowl too harshly as this will sound like a bell and, in our society a bell is often associated with a call to action, like a church bell or fire alarm. Rather play softly so as not to overpower your ability to meditate. The idea is to create your own version of self-guided meditation.
When a sound is played under water you can actually see the frequencies rippling through the water. Since our bodies are 70% fluid, sound moves through our bodies in exactly the same way, passing through our whole nervous system and having an impact on our wellbeing.
The Crown Chakra is the most sacred of all the Chakras
